Walton Robotics Wins the PCH Dalton 2020 Qualifier!

Walton Robotics went 8-4 in qualifications (5th seed) and 6-0 in the playoffs to win the PCH Dalton 2020 qualifier, and won the prestigious Chairman's Award! Walton was picked by the number 2 seed, Team 1771, and won all playoff matches to win the tournament. Thank you to the incredible work from our alliance partners (Team 1771 and Team. 3329)! Additionally, thank you to our sponsors and volunteers for allowing us to attend this event.

Walton Robotics Summer Camp 2020

The Walton Robotics team is hosting a STEM Summer Camp that will feature LEGO EV3s and Spheros devices.  The camp is designed for students who have little experience in robotics.  Students will learn to collaborate by designing, building, and programming the EV3s and Spheros to solve game challenges.  Students will also gain experience in utilizing sensors for advanced performance of the robots.
  • Camp Dates:  June 22-25, 2020
  • Where: Walton High School, 1590 Bill Murdock Rd, Marietta, GA 30062
  • For rising 4th through 7th graders
  • Cost: $300
  • Time: Monday through Thursday 9am to 3pm

For the Kids Fundraiser Event Recap

The FOR THE KIDS event hosted by Georgia Tech at Walton High School was a huge success! With the help of Walton’s Student Leadership Council and Walton’s Student Government, we overshot our combined fundraiser goal for the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta! Thank you to all those who participated, your contributions will go a long way in making an impact for the next generation.

For the Kids Dance Marathon

Walton’s Robotics team, Student Government Association and Student Leadership Council  are combining efforts with Georgia Tech students to bring a “For the Kids” event to Walton on January 25, 2020 from 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the Dining Hall.  All proceeds benefit Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta.

Every student from Walton is invited to join us for the event.  The theme is “Keeping the Kid at Heart.”  Lots of games, music and fun activities are planned for the day that will ensure fun for all.

Everyone must register to attend the event. The link is below for your convenience.  We will also have computers available during lunch hours outside the dining hall on Thursday and Friday. Please join us and support this worthwhile cause for our community.  Students will receive community service hours for participation also.  It’s a WIN, WIN for everyone!

Walton Robotics hosted the annual kickoff at our buildsite on January 4th. We would like to thank East Cobb Robotics (4910) and the Robo Lions (1261) for coming out to our buildsite for kickoff! FIRST has revealed another intriguing and complex game this year, and we cannot wait to RISE to the challenge!

WPILib Open House December 14th

Walton Robotics was given the opportunity this off-season to beta test new features coming to WPILib. New features include a new command based system and autonomous features.

Walton Robotics will be hosting a presentation on upcoming features of WPILib on December 14 at 10 AM at our build site (380 Holt Road, Marietta, GA 30068)

GirlsFIRST Movie Night 2019!

In partnership with GeorgiaFIRST, Walton Robotics will be hosting a MOVIE NIGHT at our build site! We will be watching Big Hero 6! Please join us for a fun time with free snacks! Grades 6-12 are welcome to attend!

Intro to Coding Workshop During November WEBs

Technology literacy is a critical skill for success in any field but many students feel intimidated by the world of coding. Walton Robotics’ goal is to make everyone proficient in this language of the future by offering a free, introduction to coding workshop for Walton students during WEB on Nov. 13 and Nov. 20.  This hands-on, interactive project will expose students to basic programming and electronics utilizing an Arduino platform. Absolutely no experience necessary and all materials are included!
