• Travel Requirements: Your student cannot go on team trips unless they have put in the required participation and outreach hours.  They are required to put in 80-ish participation hours and 35-ish outreach hours, as well as have completed the safety training and 2 other trainings.  Students are responsible for entering their hours in our TSheets online application.
  • Outreach: Outreach is an important part of the Walton Robotics Team.  It helps the team spread the message of STEM, FIRST, and Walton Robotics.  It integrates confidence and public speaking skills in our students.  Our team also gains points for doing outreach.   Outreach training is mandatory.  There are approximately 50 outreach events every year.  Some examples are:
    • GirlsFIRST
    • After School Programs
    • Robot Relay
    • Hosting an FLL Tournament
    • Community Demos (T-shirt Canon at Football and Basketball games)
  • Walton Incentive: Robotics Team trips are excused with incentive regarding the Walton Incentive policy.
  • Team Name & #:  The team name is Walton Robotics and the team number is 2974.
  • Robotics Events: FRC events are open to the public.  However, if you want to enter the PIT area, you must have closed-toe shoes on and safety glasses.  Please plan accordingly.
  • Build Site:  Our build site will be at the old East Cobb Middle School (ECMS) this year (2019-20) and possibly next year (2020-21).  Our team uses the old media center, cafeteria and kitchen spaces in the school.  The plan is for East Valley Elementary to be built on the land where the old East Cobb Middle School now sits.  The old Walton Auxillary Gym is slated to be retrofitted to become our team’s permanent build site, eventually.
  • Lettering: Walton Robotics gives out varsity letters at the annual banquet to students who have shown excellent dedication to the team throughout the year.  Students must record their hours in TSheets for their efforts to count. Have your student ask about the lettering requirements as they change each year based on the events in which the team participates. However, to give you an idea the following was in the Parent Meeting Presentation:
    • Outreach: 85-ish hours
    • Participation: 150-ish hours
    • Attend a competition
  • Service Hours: Hours spent on Walton Robotics Team Outreach events are hours that can be applied to theWalton High School Service Cord requirements.  However, in order for their hours to count toward the Service Cord, they must enter them in the x2Vol system in Naviance. Students with 180 or more approved volunteer service hours will be eligible to receive a volunteer service recognition cord to wear at graduation.
